On 24 April 2012 Yevhen Mykytenko, Special Representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa, held meeting with Dr. Mohammed Alasaad, the Ambassador of the Palestinian National Administration in Ukraine.
The interlocutors discussed the wide range of bilateral agenda issues and exchanged views regarding current processes in the Middle East region.
Development of the legal base of bilateral cooperation and exchange of high level visits were also discussed during the meeting.
Ambassador Mohammed Alasaad briefed in detail on the latest stage of Palestinian-Israeli negotiation process as well as efforts of international community concentrated on reaching progress on the issue of establishment the Palestinian statehood. M.Alasaad stressed the importance of intensification of the cooperation in the spheres of education and tourism. Ambassador underlined that after launching visa-free regime between Ukraine and Israel (February 2011) quantity of the Ukrainian tourists visiting Palestinian territories last year raised by 30% and reached approximately 25 000 visitors.
The Head of Palestinian Diplomatic Mission also informed that over 1000 Palestinians are currently studying in the Ukrainian Universities which constitutes a good basis for acceleration of further mutual cooperation in the field of training Palestinian nationals in the schools of high education of Ukraine.
