The Delegation of Ukraine was headed by the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. Pavlo Klimkin, the Delegation of the EU – by the Director General of the DG “Home Affairs” of the European Commission Mr. Stefano Manservisi.
During the meeting the sides thoroughly discussed a content of the Second progress report of the European Commission and the European External Action Service on the implementation by Ukraine of the Action Plan on Visa Liberalisation, as well as agreed an algorithm of further measures to be taken in order to complete implementation of the Ist (legislative) phase of mentioned Action Plan and move to its IInd (implementing) phase in 2012.
Among the issues to be solved urgently, the EU side identified the following: adoption of the Law on introduction of biometric documents for travelling abroad; improvement of legislation in the sphere of fighting corruption according to the recommendations of the Group of States against corruption (GRECO), first of all as regards setting up of a separate anti-corruption agency; adoption of Anti-discrimination Law, Anti-discrimination Strategy and Action Plan on its implementation.
These issues, amongst others, will be discussed during the next meeting of the Governmental Coordination Centre for implementation of the Action Plan on Visa Liberalisation.
