On 28 February 2017, in the framework of the 34th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin met with his Tunisian counterpart Khemaies Jhinaoui.
Ministers agreed to intensify bilateral relations, in particular, to reinforce political dialogue and to expand trade and economic cooperation. Political consultations between foreign policy institutions to be held in the near future in Tunisia as well as the Minister Klimkin's visit to the Republic of Tunisia in this year have also been agreed upon.
The two Parties discussed perspectives of visa regime liberalization for Ukrainian citizens and the opening of diplomatic representation of Tunisia in our country as well.
Special attention was paid to cooperation within the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
Also, the Minister Klimkin informed in detail his Tunisian colleague about current situation in Donbas and continuing support by the Russian Federation of illegally armed groups in that region.
Minister Khemaies Jhinaoui, in his turn, informed about the situation in the northern African region, particularly in the context of the political crisis in Libya.
