The Chairman of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Konstantin Gryshchenko met with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov
On September 5 this year, within the framework of his working visit to the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Committee of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine held a meeting with Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov.
During this meeting parties discussed the current state of relations between their states, in particular, topical issues of bilateral cooperation as well as the fulfilment of the Ukrainian-Russian agreements and further schedule of the bilateral contacts for the nearest future. The special attention was payed to the next meeting of interstate commission.
Konstantin Gryshchenko and Sergey Lavrov exchanged their views on a wide range of current international issues and discussed the ways of cooperation between Ukraine and the Russian Federation at the international arena, in particular, within the framework of international organisations and regional alliances.
The parties discussed the issues of Azovo-Kerch Strait and Transnistria settlement, the Black Sea Fleet functioning at the Crimea, the issues of humanitarian cooperation and also considered the border issues.
The special attention at the meeting was payed to the issues of European security and arms control.
The Ministers also considered the state of implementation of the Action Plan on cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Russian Federation for 2011.
