The selection process for the position of the new Secretary General has been launched in the Council of Europe. According to the established procedure, the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe will select the candidates, which will be submitted for the consideration by the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (PACE). The Assembly will vote to select the new Secretary General at its 2019 June session.

In this regard, Ukraine shared with the members of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe its vision of the criteria for the candidate to assume the leadership of the Council of Europe in these challenging times for the Organization.
