“Germany’s support and assistance to Ukraine in preserving territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as in implementing systemic reforms, is very important”, Deputy Minister Yehor Bozhok stressed during a meeting with Renata Alt and Frank Müller-Rosentritt, members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the German Bundestag, MPs of the Free Democratic Party.
Yehor Bozhok noted that Ukraine’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration course remains unchanged. In order to implement this course, our state will continue to pursue comprehensive reforms, where the practical assistance of German partners is extremely valuable.
German politicians commended the democratic nature of Ukraine’s presidential elections and noted that our state once again proved its commitment to democracy and European values.
The issue of Russian aggression against Ukraine was discussed separately during the meeting. The interlocutors emphasized that respect for international law should remain a key factor in inter-state relations. Yehor Bozhok urged German MPs to increase political and economic pressure on the Kremlin in order to return Russia to the realm of international law.
The parties also emphasized during the meeting the importance of deepening the joint collaboration in order to counter Russia’s hybrid threats aimed at destabilizing the democratic system in Europe.
At the request of the German delegation Yehor Bozhok informed about the current security situation in the Donbass, caused by the Russian aggression, and delivered a comprehensive report on the position of Ukraine regarding the diplomatic solution of the conflict with the involvement of the international peacekeeping mission under the mandate of the UN Security Council.
