"Germany is on Ukraine’s side in overcoming all current challenges",- German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said during talks with Foreign Minister of Ukraine Vadym Prystaiko. According to the German Minister, it is both about restoring Ukraine's territorial integrity within internationally recognized borders and implementing systemic reforms.

Minister Vadym Prystaiko thanked the German side for the efforts of diplomatic settlement of the Russian-Ukrainian armed conflict and stressed the importance of coordination with the partners on the eve of the Normandy summit. The German side positively noted Ukraine's steps towards fulfilling its obligations under the Minsk Agreements and stressed that Russia should take respective steps.

While discussing the topic of European energy security, Heiko Maas assured that Germany fully implements the provisions of the relevant EU Gas Directive. In addition, the German Minister stressed that Germany supports the position of further preservation of Ukraine’s role as a transit country in supplying gas to Europe.
