July 7, 2011 – In the framework of a working visit to the Republic of Moldova, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Kostyantyn Gryshchenko met with Chairman of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu and Chairman of the Party of Communists of the Republic of Moldova Volodimir Voronin.
During these meetings the parties discussed a wide range of issues of Ukrainian-Moldovan cooperation, in particular, the ways of solving current issues in the bilateral relationship between Ukraine and Moldova.
Mr. Gryshchenko argued the need to accelerate implementation by Moldova the internal procedures necessary for the already signed bilateral documents to enter into force. He underlined the importance of parliamentary parties in the process.
In this context, special attention was also paid to the development of a parliamentary dialogue between the two states.
There also has also been an exchange of views on political situation in Moldova, particularly, regarding the prospects of electing the President of the Republic of Moldova by the Parliament in the current composition.
