July 7, 2011- In the framework of his working visit to Moldova, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Kostyantyn Gryshchenko held talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova Yuri Leancă
The meeting was focused on the prospects of bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and Moldova. In this context, it was positively evaluated the issue of Palanka.
On a practical level, to address current topical issues of a bilateral interest the parties agreed to accelerate work on mutual recognition of property rights and the completion of the Ukrainian-Moldovan state border demarcation. Special attention was paid to the European integration of Ukraine and Moldova, in particular, to the prospects on the visa regime liberalization and the establishment of a free trade area. "Reaffirming that the European integration is our common strategic goal we have signed the important document to provide coordination of collaborative joint efforts of Kyiv and Chisinau in this direction - Joint Statement on Cooperation in the European integration", - said Mr. Gryshchenko.
The Ministers also discussed an issue of bilateral cooperation within international organizations. Chairman of the CE Committee of Ministers Kostyantyn Gryshchenko expressed willingness to continue active cooperation with Moldova through the implementation of "The CE-Moldova"cooperation program.
"I am confident that the deepening of cooperation of Moldova with the Council of Europe will help advance the state in a democratic direction and in solving uneasy tasks the Moldovan democracy faces today. I think that the experience accumulated within the Council of Europe on addressing similar issues, as well as a significant expertise of the Venice Commission, could appreciably contribute to progress ", - underlined the Minister.
In addition, there was agreed on deepening cooperation in the context of the forthcoming presidency of Ukraine in the OSCE in 2013 and the current presidency of the Republic of Moldova in GUAM.
