On 20 January 2020, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Vadym Prystaiko met with the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Prime Minister and Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania Edi Rama.
Vadym Prystaiko welcomed the intentions of the Albanian Chairmanship to pay priority attention to the peaceful settlement of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict on the basis of the norms of international law, OSCE principles and commitments. “The ongoing armed aggression of the Russian Federation in Donbas and the illegal occupation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol continue to undermine the foundations of European security”, stressed the Minister.
V.Prystaiko assured that Ukraine will be a reliable partner in the implementation of the priorities of the Albanian OSCE Chairmanship in 2020, in particular on ensuring observance of all OSCE Helsinki principles, including respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms.
Minister Prystaiko reaffirmed Ukraine’s support to the activities of the SMM within its mandate and appreciated the professionalism and dedication of the SMM staff. The sides noted the importance to ensure the SMM ability to effectively implement its mandate, including in the context of the Normandy Four Summit outcomes in Paris last December.
The sides have also discussed a large spectrum of issues on the agenda of Ukrainian-Albanian relations, including the establishment of diplomatic missions of Ukraine in Albania and of Albania in Ukraine.
