On July 1 Chairman of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Kostyantyn Gryshchenko took part ion the sixth Ministerial Conference of the Community of Democracies. The event was also attended by Secretary of State of the USA Hillary Clinton, EU High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton and foreign ministers of more than 100 countries from all over regions of the world.
Kostyantyn Gryshchenko participated in the discussion of challenges to democratic values and institutions that cause changes in the global political environment due to information revolution and transformation of the world economy. Within the framework of the conference the Ukrainian topmost diplomat held meetings with his counterparts from the Netherlands, Ireland, Montenegro and other countries.
The Community of Democracies is the biggest authority global platform to discuss the issues of development of democratic principles and institutions in the global dimension. The Community, established in 2000 upon the initiative of US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and Polish Foreign Minister Bronislaw Geremek, consists of more than 120 countries.
