On November 20, 2012 Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Victor Mayko and State Secretary for Trade and Strategy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Denmark Lars Thuesen held Ukrainian-Danish consultations on trade and economic cooperation.
The current state of bilateral trade and investment cooperation and the efforts aimed at its deepening were discussed during the consultations. The counterparts expressed satisfaction with the positive dynamics of development of economic contacts between Ukraine and the Kingdom of Denmark. The activities of the two respective Ministries of Foreign Affairs, aimed at enhancing investment opportunities for the Danish business in Ukraine, were considered, e.g. organisation of business seminars for entrepreneurs within particular sectors of economy.
Deputy Minister Mayko invited the Danish side to take part in the implementation of joint bilateral investment projects in Ukraine, in particular in the sectors of energy efficiency and agriculture.
The parties exchanged views on current relations between Ukraine and EU. The Ukrainian side emphasized the importance of signing the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU including FTA.
Deputy Minister Mayko and State Secretary Thuesen took part in the opening ceremony of the new premises of the Royal Danish Embassy in Ukraine.
Information: Denmark ranks 20th place among countries making direct foreign investments in Ukraine (as of 01.07.2012 the volume of Danish investments is 191 mln USD). The trade turnover between Ukraine and Denmark is 277 mln USD (January-July 2012).
