The Minister stressed the importance of the OSCE Field Operations, whose aim is to prevent and resolve conflicts, and promote democratic reforms and the rule of law.
"During our OSCE Chairmanship Ukraine will be supporting efforts to improve the efficiency of OSCE Field Operations," the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine said.
Leonid Kozhara stressed the need to strengthen the institutional capacity of the OSCE Field Operations to take timely and effective measures to prevent conflicts in the areas of their responsibility, improving cooperation with host countries during the implementation of projects, and acting to meet their needs and interests.
In his speech, the Minister paid special attention to the issue of settlement of protracted conflicts in the OSCE area.
In this context, Leonid Kozhara emphasized the importance of promoting the "5 +2" negotiations, aimed at seeking the Transnistrian settlement. "Within the next few days I plan to visit Chisinau and Tiraspol to give impetus to this process," the OSCE Chairman-in-Office said.
Those in attendance informed the meeting on the actual situation in the countries of their presence and welcomed Ukrainian Chairmanship’s readiness to assist them in the implementation of their crucial missions.
