In the framework of his visit to Switzerland to attend the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Leonid Kozhara met with Federal Counsellor, Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland Didier Burkhalter.
The head of the Swiss foreign ministry congratulated Mr. Kozhara with his appointment as Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the beginning of Ukraine's chairmanship in the OSCE. He pointed out the successful development of bilateral relations between the two countries and reaffirmed the invitation to the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine to visit year Switzerland this.
In his turn, Leonid Kozhara informed his Swiss colleague about the priorities of the Ukrainian Chairmanship in the OSCE, stressing the importance of efforts to achieve progress in the Transdniestrian settlement process.
The parties agreed that many opportunities emerged for extending cooperation from successive chairmanship of Ukraine and Switzerland in the OSCE in 2013 and 2014 respectively, and have decided to enhance cooperation in this direction.
Ministers also pointed out the necessity to take advantage of the new trade regime based on the Free Trade Agreement between Ukraine and EFTA in order to intensify trade and economic ties between the countries.
