On February 2, Andrii Melnyk, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine held video meeting with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Colombia Francisco José Coy Granados.
The interlocutors exchanged views on the current issues of the Ukraine-Colombian bilateral relations, as well as further cooperation within the framework of international organizations.
Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister familiarized Francisco Coy Granados with the situation in Ukraine provoked by a wide-scale Russian aggression against our country, as well as with key elements of the Peace Formula Plan, initiated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Andrii Melnyk called on Colombia to participate in this diplomatic initiative.
Francisco Coy Granados noted the negative impact of the Russian aggression against Ukraine on food and energy security also in the region of Latin America and reconfirmed the unwavering support by Colombia to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as his country’s readiness to cooperate within the UN and other international institutions with an aim to reaching peace.
Counterparts expressed mutual interest in widening trade and economic cooperation between Ukraine and Colombia that was hardly hit by the Russian aggression.
The sides discussed the ways to intensify the political dialogue on the highest level, in particular they agreed to maintain close working contacts and hold political consultations at the level of deputy heads of ministries during this year.
