On February 1, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Melnyk held an online meeting with his counterpart at the Foreign Ministry of Panama, Vladimir Franco Sousa.
The interlocutors discussed priority issues of the development of bilateral relations between Ukraine and the Republic of Panama, further cooperation of both countries in the framework of the UN and other international organizations in the context of countering Russia's full-scale aggression against Ukraine.
Andriy Melnyk expressed gratitude to the Panamanian side for consistent support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, for condemning Russian aggression against our country.
Deputy Minister Andrii Melnyk informed his counterpart in detail about the "Peace Formula" initiated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and called on the Panamanian side to join this important initiative.
V. Franko Sousa assured of Panama’s unwavering support for Ukraine in the framework of international organizations.
The interlocutors exchanged views on the possibilities of restoring economic cooperation between Ukraine and Panama, which suffered significant losses due to the Russian military invasion of Ukraine and its blocking of trade routes in the Black Sea.
It was agreed to maintain working contacts and to hold political consultations between the foreign services of the two states at the level of deputy ministers during this year.
Andriy Melnyk invited his Panamanian colleague to visit Kyiv.
