Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Melnyk, as part of his visit to the countries of North and Central America, held a number of meetings with the officials of the United Mexican States.
While in Mexico, Andrii Melnyk held talks with Undersecretary for Latin America and the Caribbean of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico Maximiliano Reyes Zúñiga, as well as Director General of the European Bureau of the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs Bernardo Aguilar Calvo and Director General of the UN Bureau Eduardo Jaramillo Navarrete.
Ukrainian diplomat emphasized the importance of a more active position of Mexico in supporting Ukraine, since now one cannot talk about neutrality when there is a victim of aggression and the aggressor who violates the most fundamental principles of the UN, the basic norms of international law and human rights. The parties also discussed the prospects of Mexico’s participation in the implementation of President Zelenskyy's Peace Formula and prospects for provision of humanitarian aid to Ukraine. Andrii Melnyk thanked Mexico for its constructive position within the UN, for supporting resolutions important to our country, in particular, the recently adopted GA Resolution "Principles of the Charter of the United Nations underlying a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in Ukraine".
As part of his visit to Mexico, Andrii Melnyk had a conversation with Santiago Creel Miranda, President of the Congress of the Union and the Chamber of Deputies, who assured of his support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and emphasized his readiness to visit Kyiv in the near future together with a delegation of Mexican parliamentarians. Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine also met with the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Senator Héctor Vasconcelos, who confirmed the determination of the representatives of the legislative branch to contribute to the search for ways to help Ukraine, including to join the process of reconstruction of Ukraine.
Andrii Melnyk visited the Monterrey Institute of Technology (Mexico City campus), where he gave a lecture on the devastating consequences of Russia's full-scale aggression against Ukraine and talked with the students of international relations and law.
