Andrii Droniuk discussed with GIZ Representatives deepening Ukrainian-German cooperation in cybersecurity

On July 1, 2026 Deputy Minister of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Chief Digital Transformation Officer Andrii Droniuk met with Carsten Schmitz-Hoffmann, Director of GIZ’s Department for Latin America, Europe, North Africa / Near and Middle East, and Asia.

The sides discussed current state and prospects of Ukrainian-German cooperation in the field of cybersecurity as well as strengthening cyber resilience. Particular attention was paid to the outcomes of the “Partnership for Strengthening Cybersecurity” project in Ukraine, aimed at promoting the development of national cyber resilience, strengthening public-private partnerships between Ukraine and Germany, and expanding multilateral cooperation of relevant stakeholders.

During the meeting, Andriy Dronyuk emphasized the strategic importance of the Ukrainian-German partnership in the sphere of cybersecurity, the importance of joint efforts to strengthen the cyber resilience of both Ukraine and Europe, and the role of cybersecurity as one of the cornerstone elements of the integration of Ukraine to European space.

“As Ukraine continues to defend its sovereignty against Russia’s aggression and advance on its path towards EU membership, strengthening cyber resilience remains one of our strategic priorities. Every day, Ukraine’s experience in countering unprecedented cyber threats reinforces Europe’s collective security. Our partnership with Germany goes beyond support - it is a shared investment in a stronger, more secure and more resilient Europe. Together, we are enhancing the capabilities and resilience needed to protect our citizens and build a safer European future”, - stated deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine for Digital Development, Digital Transformations and Digitalization Andrii Droniuk.

Carsten Schmitz-Hoffmann noted that, in the context of rapid digitalization, the cyberspace’ security is a common responsibility. He noted that Germany and other European Union member states are already drawing on the experience of Ukraine in countering cyber threats. And, at the same time, the EU supports Ukraine’s cyber resilience strengthening security of all of Europe for the sake of global security.

Following the meeting, the sides agreed to continuetheir close cooperation within the framework of joint projects, aimed at developing cybersecurity capabilities of Ukraine, strengthening public-private partnerships and expanding international cooperation for the sake of Eupopean security and stability.
