Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha: "I had a substantive call with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi.
We exchanged views on the current nuclear safety and security situation in Ukraine, with particular attention to the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP. Russia’s continued occupation and militarization of the plant remain the fundamental source of nuclear safety and security risks.
I highly value Rafael’s personal engagement and the IAEA’s continued work in Ukraine, including its mission at the ZNPP. We agreed on the importance of maintaining close coordination on all issues related to the plant, firmly based on Ukraine’s sovereignty and international law.
We exchanged views on the ongoing process concerning the selection of the next UN Secretary-General. We also discussed a number of other important issues, including our cooperation within the UN framework, ongoing initiatives, and practical areas where Ukraine and the IAEA can work together."
