On May 6, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha held a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with representatives of leading Ukrainian IT companies and industry associations.
The event brought together experts in software development, fintech, IT consulting, cybersecurity, and digital services.
The primary objective of the meeting was to explore practical avenues of cooperation between Ukraine’s diplomatic service and the IT industry to expand the global presence of Ukrainian tech businesses and to effectively integrate Ukrainian digital solutions into public, economic, and digital diplomacy.
Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasised that supporting Ukrainian exporters of IT solutions and services is a priority for Ukraine’s diplomatic efforts, as it strengthens the wartime economy, reinforces the country’s international standing, and creates new opportunities for domestic tech innovators.
“I believe in a foreign policy grounded in a strong economy and successful initiatives,” said Andrii Sybiha, highlighting that the resilience of a state is directly linked to the resilience of its businesses.
According to the Minister, a robust and dynamic IT sector is an integral part of a strong Ukraine, one that systematically scales its influence through the development of mutually beneficial partnerships and economic connections.
He also stressed that Ukraine’s IT sector is not only a strategically important industry but also a globally recognised leader and brand that is shaping modern technological standards.
Minister Sybiha underscored the importance of digital transformation within the diplomatic service, especially in the area of consular services, where Ukraine has set an ambitious goal — to become a global leader in providing user-friendly and high-quality services for its citizens abroad.
Participants also discussed the role of the Diia digital ecosystem — not only a successful Ukrainian IT product but also an effective tool for enhancing international cooperation, fostering promising tech partnerships, and promoting Ukraine’s interests around the world.
The Minister further noted that countries supporting Ukraine will be given priority in the recovery process and in access to advanced Ukrainian digital and defence technologies.
Andrii Sybiha expressed gratitude to the IT community for its resilience and continued work under wartime conditions, emphasising that the sector serves as a model of economic self-sufficiency.
Finally, the Foreign Minister underscored the importance of engaging with Ukrainian IT businesses in the fields of public and cultural diplomacy and affirmed that cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ukraine’s IT sector will continue to deepen.
