On Tuesday, February 10, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha received the Director General of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS), Maksym Dotsenko.

The parties discussed current and future humanitarian projects and areas of cooperation amidst the full-scale war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, as well as practical aspects of implementing the Memorandum of Cooperation between the MFA of Ukraine and the URCS, signed in July 2025.

One of the priority areas of cooperation between the MFA and the URCS is the joint implementation of the initiative by Andrii Sybiha and the Association of Spouses of Ukrainian Diplomats regarding the rehabilitation of Ukrainian children abroad. A special focus of this social and humanitarian project is on the children of military personnel, fallen and missing defenders, as well as children from Ukraine's frontline regions. Last year, with the direct assistance of the URCS, over 700 children received rehabilitation and rest abroad; this year, the first trips abroad have already taken place.

The interlocutors agreed to organize rest for children from the most vulnerable regions, particularly Sumy and Chernihiv regions, in the near future.

"Humanitarian work in wartime must be clearly coordinated and result-oriented. The MFA is ready to continue providing the necessary international engagement for the implementation of priority humanitarian projects. We look forward to further close coordination with the Ukrainian Red Cross Society and partners in implementing specific projects to support those who need it most," emphasized Andrii Sybiha.

The parties paid particular attention to the issues of supporting Ukraine's energy resilience and joint steps aimed at assisting Ukrainian citizens during the winter period.

The sides also discussed further directions of humanitarian cooperation, including the possibility of implementing joint projects outside of Ukraine, particularly in countries on the African continent. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine considers the development of such initiatives as an important element of humanitarian diplomacy and international cooperation.
