Andrii Sybiha held a meeting with Minister for Foreign Affairs, Trade and Minister for Defence of Ireland Helen McEntee
03 December 2025 10:11

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha: "Today is a historic day for the Ukrainian-Irish partnership. First official visit of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Ireland, my first meeting with newly appointed colleague Helen McEntee, and our first strategic dialogue meeting at the level of foreign ministers.

As we launched together a new mechanism of our cooperation – the annual Ukraine–Ireland strategic dialogue at the level of Foreign Ministers, this step will further advance our cooperation and deepen our result-oriented partnership.

The second meeting will be held in Kyiv in 2026, and I look forward to welcoming my colleague to return the favor.

I thanked Minister McEntee for her unwavering solidarity and strong messages of support for Ukraine, as well as the protection of Ukrainian citizens who fled the war to friendly Ireland.

I briefed my colleague on the battlefield situation and the consequences of Russia’s recent mass attacks against our people and civilian infrastructure.

We had a meaningful and comprehensive conversation on our bilateral agenda and current diplomatic work to put an end to Russia’s war against Ukraine.

We shared perspectives on the recent talks in Florida between Ukrainian and U.S. delegations. We both agree on the need to ensure that peace will be lasting and guaranteed.

I thanked Ireland for its new package of assistance for Ukraine aimed at further strengthening our resilience and supporting our people.

We value Ireland’s principled stance on the return of Ukrainian children as well as strong support for all the work to ensure accountability for Russian crimes in the course of its invasion of Ukraine.

I reaffirmed Ukraine’s determination to deepen our partnership with Ireland and to strengthen our joint contribution to peace and security in a strong and united Europe."
