Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha: "I had a meeting with Bendito Freitas, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Timor-Leste. 

I thanked him for Timor-Leste’s support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as its votes in the UN in support of a just and lasting peace. 

We discussed opportunities to deepen our bilateral ties and expand Ukraine’s engagement with Portuguese-speaking countries, including through cooperation with the Community of Portuguese Language Countries. 

We also discussed Ukraine’s growing engagement with ASEAN and opportunities to deepen our cooperation with Southeast Asia. We are interested in building stronger political, economic, and people-to-people ties across the region. 

I briefed my colleague on the human dimension of Russia’s war and the reality Ukrainians face every day — constant air-raid alerts and attacks on our cities. 

We also discussed the rapid development of Ukraine’s defense technologies and the asymmetric responses to Russian aggression. 

I invited Minister Freitas to visit Ukraine, continue our dialogue, and see firsthand the reality of a country defending its freedom, independence, and right to determine its own future."
