On Friday, July 10, Ukraine's Minister for Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha met with Chairman Emeritus of the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee Michael McCaul.

Andrii Sybiha thanked Congressman McCaul for his steadfast leadership and unwavering support for Ukraine. The Minister noted that Michael McCaul was the first Member of the U.S. Congress to visit the front-line area in Ukraine's Donetsk region since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion.

The Minister briefed the Congressman on the consequences of Russia's recent large-scale missile and drone attacks against Ukraine and underscored the urgent need to further strengthen Ukraine's air defense capabilities.

The parties reaffirmed the importance of maintaining strong bipartisan and bicameral support for Ukraine in the U.S. Congress. Particular attention was paid to strengthening the Ukraine–U.S. security and defense partnership, advancing legislative initiatives aimed at increasing sanctions pressure on Russia, expanding cooperation in defense innovation, including unmanned technologies, and deepening the Ukraine–U.S. economic partnership.

The parties also discussed the implementation of the agreements reached during the meeting between President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and President of the United States Donald Trump on the margins of the NATO Summit in Ankara, with a particular focus on advancing Ukraine–U.S. defense cooperation, especially in the areas of air defense and unmanned systems.
