On May 17, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha held a meeting with Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Ukraine Nguyen Hong Thach.

The parties agreed on the need to intensify the Ukrainian-Vietnamese political dialogue at the highest level, and also discussed the current state and prospects for the development of relations in the trade and economic sphere.

Andrii Sybiha noted that by the end of 2023, Vietnam had become the largest trading partner of Ukraine among the ASEAN countries. The First Deputy Minister emphasized the importance of more active use of existing cooperation mechanisms in this field, in particular the Ukrainian-Vietnamese Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic and Scientific technical cooperation.

A number of steps to give additional momentum to bilateral political contacts were agreed upon, and preparations for the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland were also discussed.
