On December 13 Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha held a meeting with European Commissioner for Defense and Space Andrius Kubilius during his first visit to Ukraine in his new capacity.
The Minister congratulated the European Commissioner on his appointment to the newly created post and expressed hope for further active interaction and cooperation with the European Commission in the field of defense and defense industries.
“Welcomed Andrius Kubilius on his first visit to Kyiv as EU Commissioner for Defence and Space. After the morning in shelters due to Russia’s massive air attack, we got down to business, discussing steps to boost EU defense industrial base and investment in Ukraine’s defense industry” he noted.
The two sides paid particular attention to the current level and prospects of the EU's military support to Ukraine amid the ongoing Russian aggression, including further steps by European partners to provide Ukraine with weapons, artillery ammunition and air defense systems in line with the needs of the Ukrainian Security and Defense Forces.
The officials also discussed the capabilities of the Ukrainian defense industry and the prospects for its full integration into the EU ecosystem in line with the European Defense Industry Strategy.
European Commissioner Andrius Kubilius, in turn, assured the Ukrainian Foreign Minister of his continued unwavering support of Ukraine and readiness to cooperate in the defense sphere.
