On Tuesday, April 8, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha welcomed his Belgian counterpart, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belgium, Maxime Prévot, to Kyiv.
During their bilateral talks the two ministers discussed further joint steps to strengthen Ukrainian-Belgian cooperation, expand military and humanitarian support for Ukraine, and hold Russia accountable.
A special part of the visit was a joint meeting with students and staff of the Baryshivka Lyceum in the Kyiv region, where the Belgian development agency "Enabel" is implementing a shelter construction project under the grant program "BE-Relieve Ukraine."
"Together with the Belgian delegation we are deeply impressed by the resilience of our people, the talented students, and the dedicated teachers. Despite the challenges, they strongly believe in future, continue their education and work. They are strong, intelligent and dedicated to their profession and their country. It is precisely because of such people that we have prevailed in our fight against the aggressor. They embody our strength and our hope," - Andrii Sybiha stated.
The head of Ukraine's diplomatic body emphasized that Belgium would continue to actively support Ukraine in rebuilding and strengthening its defense capabilities.
"Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion the Belgian people have provided Ukraine with comprehensive assistance worth €2.2 billion. Yesterday, the Belgian government announced a new defense package for 2025 amounting to €1 billion," - the minister noted.
Andrii Sybiha expressed his deep gratitude to Belgium for its consistent support, which brings tangible and meaningful results.
