On Sunday, 23 February, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha took part in the ‘Ukraine. Year 2025’ forum, where he spoke about the main priorities of Ukrainian diplomacy for 2025.
The Minister said that Ukraine's diplomatic service is actively working to increase contacts with the US side, in particular at the level of the head of state, and stressed the leading role of the US in a just end to Russia's war against Ukraine.
‘Ukraine needs an active role of the United States in a just end to the Russian war. We also need further pressure on Russia, to increase the price of Russian aggression. To do this, we are working on specific tools - sanctions, frozen assets, oil prices, as well as strengthening Ukraine in all aspects,' the Minister of Foreign Affairs said.
Andrii Sybiha also stressed that Ukraine should be in the strongest position in order to enter the negotiations.
The Minister said that the entire diplomatic service of Ukraine will intensify its efforts to achieve a sustainable and just peace and end the Russian war this year, in accordance with the instructions of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
‘We will continue to work on strengthening Ukraine's subjectivity in the international arena, which corresponds to the importance of our country on the geopolitical map of the world. It was, it is and it will be,’ the Foreign Minister said.
The Minister stressed that the outcome of the Russian war will determine not only the future of Ukraine, but will also affect the way of life of every family in Europe and the United States.
‘We believe that the security of Ukraine, the security of Europe and the security of the United States are indivisible. We are a single entity in the context of Ukraine's security and transatlantic security,' the Minister of Foreign Affairs highlighted.
In the context of consolidating the international community's support for Ukraine, Andrii Sybiha informed about the events dedicated to the third anniversary of the full-scale Russian aggression at the UN General Assembly and the Security Council.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed the importance of a clear statement of position by like-minded countries, as such steps contribute to bringing peace and ending the war in Ukraine.
Andrii Sybiha also urged not to manipulate the concept of ‘peace’. According to him, peace should be exclusively comprehensive, just and lasting.
