Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha: "As the UN Security Council gathered at Ukraine’s request following Russia’s escalating attacks on civilians and cities, Moscow continued doing exactly what the international community was meeting to address: killing innocent Ukrainians.
Last night, Russia struck residential buildings in Zaporizhzhia with guided aerial bombs. At least 15 civilians have been killed, including three children. Rescuers are still searching for people beneath the rubble. The death toll may rise.
These were people sleeping in their homes. Children who should have woken up to another ordinary morning. Instead, Russian bombs killed them in their sleep.
Russia can deliver speeches at the UN, distort facts, and pretend to seek peace. But its actions speak with horrifying clarity. Every destroyed home, every murdered child, every family torn apart exposes the reality behind Moscow’s words.
The international community must draw the right conclusions. Russia cannot be allowed to use diplomacy as cover for continued terror. Nor should it receive economic relief while it continues to kill civilians. Any easing of pressure is perceived by Moscow as a signal that it can continue killing without consequences.
Russia’s terror has no limits, and neither should the international response to it. What is happening in Ukraine today is a warning to the entire world. We need united, decisive action to stop Russia’s crimes, protect innocent lives, and prevent this terror from spreading further.
Every day of hesitation has a human cost".
