On Monday, December 22, the Day of the Diplomatic Service Worker, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andrii Sybiha, gathered veterans of the diplomatic service with their spouses in the main European Hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, continuing the tradition of honoring all generations of diplomats.
The Minister expressed deep gratitude to his colleagues for their contribution to the formation and development of the diplomatic service of Ukraine. He noted that although the current period is particularly difficult, previous generations of diplomats also made history in times of challenges.
“Thanks to you, we have the privilege of not starting many things from scratch, but continuing. This is your contribution, your merit, and we are sincerely grateful for it. I see my mission in continuing the work you have done. It was you who laid the foundations of diplomacy of power,” the Minister of Foreign Affairs said.
Andrii Sybiha called on senior colleagues to share their experience with young diplomats who are just starting their professional careers, and the younger generation to not be shy about learning and showing initiative. He recalled that since his appointment to the position, he has intensified the involvement of young people in working in the diplomatic service and emphasized the importance of exchanging experience between generations.
“We need your wise advice and thoughts. We already maintain a constant dialogue with many of you and have established channels for exchanging ideas. I hope that young people will also be able to hear this wisdom,” the minister emphasized.
Andrii Sybiha emphasized the importance of regular meetings with veterans of the diplomatic service, involving their authority and experience in achieving Ukraine’s foreign policy goals.
Ihor Smilyansky, Director General of Ukrposhta, also took part in the meeting with veterans of the diplomatic service. He expressed gratitude to the diplomats for their work and noted that in recent years, Ukrposhta stamps have also become part of diplomatic efforts.
In the presence of veterans of the diplomatic service, the Head of Ukrposhta held a solemn ceremony to cancel the special stamp “Diplomacy on the Edge”, created for the Day of Diplomatic Service Workers in 2025. The stamp was cancelled personally by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha.
“Today, our diplomacy is on the edge. It, like the defense sector, defends the national interests of Ukraine. The unconventional steps of our diplomats achieve results. It is a great honor for me to be with you and to capture your work in stamps that will become part of history from today,” said Ihor Smilyansky.
“This is a true recognition of the role of the diplomatic service. Thank you for preparing this stamp in record time. Our service deserves such symbolic honors more than ever,” the Minister noted.
From December 22, 2025, stamp sheets with 9 stamps “Diplomacy on the Edge” by Anastasia Bondarets and corresponding art envelopes are available for sale in the Ukrposhta online postal market.
The communication with the veterans, together with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha, was attended by First Deputy Minister Sergiy Kyslytsya, Deputies Mariana Betsa, Olexandr Mishchenko, Yevhen Perebyinis, and State Secretary Oleksandr Karasevych.
