On December 4, Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister, Chief Digital Transformation Officer Anton Demokhin held a meeting with Alex Karnes, Republican Chief of Staff to the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on State and Foreign Operations, and Paul Grove, Democratic Senior Representative to the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on State, Foreign Operations and Related Programs.
Representatives of the U.S. delegation assured that the U.S. would maintain bipartisan support for Ukraine during the transition period. Particular attention was given to the issues of financial assistance provided by the Administration of President Joseph Biden for Ukraine’s critical defense needs, strengthening state institutions, in particular anti-corruption bodies, as well as advancing steps to ensure stability and development of Ukraine in the face of ongoing armed aggression by the Russian Federation.
Anton Demokhin emphasized the importance of continued strategic support from the United States and expressed gratitude to American partners for their contribution to strengthening Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also underscored the need for coordinated efforts to consolidate international support, including sanctions pressure on the aggressor country.
In the context of Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic aspirations, the Deputy Minister highlighted the importance of making a decision to invite our country to become a full NATO member , which would be a reliable guarantee for achieving a just and sustainable peace in Ukraine.
The meeting participants also discussed prospects for further cooperation in Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction, support for democracy and the implementation of reforms in Ukraine, particularly in the areas of digital transformation, cyber diplomacy and e-governance.
