On 30 - 31 January 2024, Deputy Foreign Minister for Digital Development, Digital Transformations and Digitalization Anton Demokhin paid a working visit to Warsaw (Poland).
During his stay in Poland, the Deputy Foreign Minister held a number of working meetings, including with representatives of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, relevant agencies and NGOs, and participated in the international conference "Cyber Resilience in the modern world. Lessons learned from Ukraine".
At the meeting with Deputy Minister Robert Kupeczky and Ambassador-at-Large for Cybersecurity and Technology at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland Tadeusz Chomicki, Anton Demokhin briefed his counterparts on the consequences of the Russian armed aggression against Ukraine, in particular in the field of cybersecurity. The Deputy Foreign Minister stressed the importance of further coordination with partners at the intergovernmental, non-governmental and business levels in the face of new security challenges.
The parties discussed strengthening cooperation in cyberspace and developing joint approaches to countering threats in the cyber sphere.
In this regard, the Polish side positively assessed the practical development of cooperation within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding on Cyber Defence signed in 2022 between the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, the State Service of Ukraine for Special Protection of Communications and Information and the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland, which is an important tool for cooperation between the two countries to increase resilience and counter aggressive actions in cyberspace.
During the negotiations, the parties also discussed cooperation under the Tallinn Mechanism initiative, recently launched by Ukraine and its partners to better coordinate and systematize cyber resilience and digital assistance to meet the needs of Ukraine's civilian infrastructure.
In addition, Anton Demokhin spoke at the inaugural panel "Cyber Diplomacy and Promoting Global Cooperation for Cybersecurity in a Changing Geopolitical Landscape" of the Conference, which was jointly organized by the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine and the EU4DigitalUA project.
The international event brought together leading Ukrainian and international experts, representatives of governmental institutions and NGOs to share experiences and best practices in the field of cybersecurity.
Participants focused on discussing Ukraine's lessons learned in countering Russian aggression in cyberspace, as Ukraine's successful resistance clearly demonstrates how modern security technologies are transforming the digital security landscape today and in what direction this industry will develop in the future.
"Cyberspace is an integral part of our common future, in which diplomacy will promote best practices for implementing transformations in the world. The complex network of intergovernmental relations created and maintained by diplomats is the basis for effective cooperation in an era when protecting the digital sphere is a key priority," the Deputy Minister said.
