On August 24, Yevhen Perebyinis, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, held a meeting with a delegation from the global network of parliamentarians “United for Ukraine” (U4U), which is visiting Ukraine to mark the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence.

“United for Ukraine” brings together approximately 400 representatives of national parliaments from European countries, the United States, Canada, and other democratic states, whose activities are aimed at consolidating international parliamentary support for Ukraine. Today’s meeting was attended by parliamentarians from Austria, Bulgaria, Belgium, Denmark, Greece, Estonia, Ireland, Spain, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Germany, Moldova, Poland, Romania, the United States, Finland, France, the Czech Republic, and Sweden.

Yevhen Perebyinis thanked the parliamentarians from partner countries for their symbolic visit to Ukraine on Independence Day, which is an important demonstration of solidarity with the Ukrainian people and support for Ukraine on its path toward full membership in the European Union and NATO.

During the meeting, special attention was paid to strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities, ensuring energy security, and supporting the country’s financial stability. The Deputy Minister thanked the parliamentarians for their efforts and initiatives aimed at strengthening military, energy, and financial support for Ukraine.

Yevhen Perebyinis emphasized the need to further intensify sanctions pressure on Russia in order to increase the cost of continued aggression for the Kremlin and create the conditions necessary to end the war and achieve a just peace.

“Sanctions have already inflicted significant damage on the Russian economy. At the same time, Russia’s continued attacks against civilians and critical infrastructure indicate that Moscow is still not ready for peace. That is precisely why sanctions pressure must be maintained and intensified,” Yevhen Perebyinis emphasized.

The participants paid special attention to Ukraine’s European integration. The Deputy Minister stressed that Ukraine’s full membership in the European Union is not only a strategic foreign policy priority for our country but also an important element of the future security architecture and sustainable peace in Europe.

The parliamentarians reaffirmed their unwavering support for Ukraine, its European and Euro-Atlantic integration, the strengthening of its defense capabilities, energy and financial stability, as well as its efforts to achieve a just and sustainable peace.
