Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha: “I had a substantive call with my Estonian colleague, Minister Margus Tsahkna. I thanked him for Estonia’s leadership of the Nordic-Baltic Eight and for the successful Ukraine–NB8 Summit held in Kyiv yesterday.

I was particularly touched by the gesture in Tallinn today, where the Ukrainian flag was raised and our national anthem was played during the Estonia’s Annual Ambassadors Conference. On Ukraine’s Independence Day, such signs of solidarity from our friends carry a special meaning.

We focused on the need for stronger anti-ballistic sanctions targeting Russia’s ability to produce missiles and drones used to kill Ukrainians. Every massive Russian attack should be followed by additional sanctions from our partners, particularly against Russia’s military-industrial complex, technologies, components, and supply chains that enable this terror.

We also discussed the situation in the Black Sea, where Russia’s attacks on Ukrainian ports and civilian shipping threaten freedom of navigation, our economy, and global food security. We agreed to follow up with concrete steps and initiatives aimed at strengthening maritime security and safeguarding freedom of navigation.

I also stressed the need to put the full use of frozen Russian assets firmly back on the international agenda. Russian resources should be used to support Ukraine and address the consequences of Russia’s aggression.

We discussed preparations for the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2027 in Tallinn and how to make it an important milestone for Ukraine’s recovery, investment, and long-term development.
