On March 24, 2021, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevheniy Yenin had a telephone conversation with the U.S. Department of State Special Envoy for Iran Robert Malley.
The parties discussed a range of issues related to the recently published Iran’s final safety investigation report o the downing of Ukraine International Airlines Flight PS752.
Yevheniy Yenin pointed out that Iran’s final technical investigation had not been conducted appropriately - the report did not contain all the facts of the accident, nor hard evidence, therefore the conclusions were misleading and biased.
The Deputy Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of ensuring impartial judicial proceedings as part of Iran’s obligation to bring justice to the victims’ next of kin.
Robert Malley expressed solidarity with the families and loved ones of the air crash victims. He also stated readiness to engage with the U.S. competent authorities to provide the necessary support to hold Iran accountable for the downing of the Ukrainian civilian aircraft.
The Deputy Foreign Minister and the Special Envoy highlighted the importance of strengthening the strategic partnership between Ukraine and the United States.
