The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine elaborated a Strategy for the Development of Relations between Ukraine and Latin America and the Caribbean.

This was announced on Wednesday, January 10 by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba.

"Ukrainian diplomacy is systematically implementing the tasks of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to open new horizons for Ukraine in the world. In 2022-2023, we have significantly intensified cooperation with Africa and launched a renaissance of Ukrainian-African relations. 2024 will be the year of Ukraine's return to Latin America and the Caribbean," the Ukrainian Minister said.

Dmytro Kuleba said that the Strategy for the Development of Relations between Ukraine and Latin America and the Caribbean was developed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine for the first time in Ukrainian history. It is designed for five years.

"The Strategy is a strategic planning document aimed at bringing political, trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian and other spheres of cooperation to a new qualitative level. It defines the main directions of Ukraine's activities in Latin America and the Caribbean in the context of countering Russian aggression, the need to support the restoration of a just peace in our country and post-war reconstruction," the Ukrainian Foreign Minister stressed.

In particular, according to him, the Strategy defines the following goals of relations of Ukraine with Latin America and the Caribbean: ensuring the support for Ukraine of the states of the region in countering Russian aggression, de-occupation of the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, restoration of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our state within its internationally recognized borders; ensuring the participation of the states of Latin America and the Caribbean in the implementation of President Volodymyr Zelensky's Peace Formula; helping Ukrainian exporters to enter the markets of the states of Latin America and the Caribbean; increasing trade and investment; supporting Ukrainian communities in the LAC countries for the realization of their national, cultural and linguistic needs; strengthening Ukrainian informational presence and combating Russian propaganda; promotion of Ukrainian culture.

The MFA of Ukraine has developed an Asian strategy in 2020 and an African strategy in 2022. The development and implementation of a Strategy for Developing Relations with Latin America and the Caribbean will complete the process of qualitatively new strategic coverage of all regions of the world for the comprehensive promotion of Ukraine's national interests.
