On April 18, during his visit to Kuwait, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba held talks with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Kuwait Sheikh Salem Al-Sabah. The visit coincided with the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Kuwait.
At the beginning of the negotiations, the parties signed a memorandum on the allocation of 1 million U.S. dollars by the Kuwaiti government for the purchase of power generators for Ukraine, which will be delivered in the near future.
"We highly appreciate Kuwait's support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as the humanitarian aid that the Kuwaiti side provides to Ukraine after the start of the full-scale Russian invasion. Ukraine has gone through the hardest winter in its history, and we continue to strengthen the Ukrainian energy system for the long term. The powerful generators that will be transferred as part of the new initiative will help us ensure the sustainability of Ukraine," Dmytro Kuleba noted.
Foreign ministers discussed diplomatic efforts to stop Russian aggression and restore peace. Minister Kuleba thanked his colleague for supporting the relevant resolutions of the UN General Assembly and gave a detailed introduction to the Peace Formula of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy the implementation of which guarantees a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.
Dmytro Kuleba emphasized the importance of joint efforts to prevent the destruction of the Black Sea Grain Initiative by Russia. The Minister also invited Kuwait to participate in President Zelenskyy's humanitarian program "Grain from Ukraine."
An important topic of the negotiations was involvement of the Kuwaiti side in the implementation of economic projects in Ukraine.
"One of the priorities of Ukrainian diplomacy is to open up new horizons for Ukraine in the world and in the Middle East in particular. During my talks in Kuwait, I discussed specific new opportunities for the Ukrainian state, business, and citizens," Dmytro Kuleba emphasized.
Foreign ministers agreed to revive direct contacts between business circles and to stimulate an increase in trade turnover.
Finally, Dmytro Kuleba invited Sheikh Salem Al-Sabah to visit Ukraine at a convenient time.
