On January 18, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine (CDTO) Dmytro Senik met with Ambassador of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria to Ukraine Djihad Eddine Belkas.
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for further development of Ukrainian-Algerian cooperation, in particular, the intensification of political dialogue interaction within the framework of international organizations.
Diplomats noted the presence of great potential for further deepening trade cooperation between Ukraine and Algeria. They also paid special attention to the issues of revitalizing bilateral contacts in the scientific, technical and educational fields and expanding the legal framework of bilateral relations.
For reference: in recent years, Algeria has traditionally held the position of one of the largest trade and economic partners of Ukraine in Africa. In 2019, a record level of trade in goods and services was recorded between the two countries, which amounted to 614 million USD. For 10 months of 2021, the volume of trade in goods between the two countries reached 509 million USD. Ukrainian exports amounted to 400 million. USD.
