On 3 November 2020, the Council of Exporters and Investors under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine held a video conference with Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine (CDTO) Dmytro Senik, Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Uzbekistan Mykola Doroshenko, Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Ukraine Alisher Abdullayev, the Uzbek Commodity Exchange, leading Ukrainian agricultural associations and producers . The meeting aimed to acquaint Ukrainian exporters with the opportunities for developing their business in Uzbekistan through exchange mechanisms.
"In terms of the traditional trade chains instability caused by COVID-19, Ukraine is ready to become a reliable contributor of food security to Uzbekistan and other Asian countries’’, said the Deputy Minister. He expressed his conviction that the establishment of connection between Ukrainian agricultural producers and representatives of the Uzbek Commodity Exchange is a step towards a long-term mutually beneficial cooperation that will provide Uzbek market with quality and competitive Ukrainian products. "The consumer will receive a high quality product, which has a solid reputation on the world's leading markets’’, said the diplomat.
Representatives of the Uzbek Commodity Exchange said that Ukrainian companies would be able to use new regulations for participation in exchange trading in Uzbekistan. In particular, for non-resident sellers of flour, oil, sugar and wheat, the accreditation process is simplified - now they only need to provide an application to be accepted. Participation in tenders without monetary deposit will also become possible. Previously, the deposit was up to 10% of the transaction sum. The new rules will apply until April 2021.
Participants discussed other innovations in stock exchange relations in Uzbekistan. In particular, the State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan will provide calculations of customs payments under agreements concluded through foreign trading platforms, which will base on the prices specified in them. In addition, the operator of the railway network of JSC «O’zbekiston emir yo’llari» will carry out the transportation of the goods with the application of domestic tariffs under the agreements with foreign partners concluded within the Uzbek Commodity Exchange.
"The new order of participation in trading on the stock exchange opens new opportunities for Ukrainian agricultural producers to export to Uzbekistan’’ , said Dmytro Senik.
The Deputy Minister reminded of the initiative to systematically inform national producers about new opportunities that appear in foreign markets. "I invite Ukrainian business to join the Council of Exporters and Investors at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine (CEI). It is a platform where the Ministry of Foreign Affairs accumulates information on investment and trade opportunities from around the world, plus it promotes business contacts between Ukrainian exporters and importers abroad’’ , the Ukrainian diplomat added.
