On July 16, 2020, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Mr. Vasyl Bodnar met in Kyiv with the Egyptian delegation headed by Minister of Tourism and Antiquities of the Arab Republic of Egypt Mr. Khaled EL-Enany.
The officials of the government institutions of Ukraine as well as the representatives of tourist business of Ukraine also participated in the meeting.
The parties discussed gradual resumption of touristic activities, ensuring a secure staying of Ukrainian tourists on the territory of Egypt in a view of COVID-19 pandemic as well as protection of rights and interests of the citizens of Ukraine employed in the sphere of tourism in Egypt.
With regard to expansion of the bilateral treaty and legal basis, the Parties have agreed to speed up consideration of two drafts memorandums of cooperation in the sphere of tourism, cultural and historic heritage. Modalities for expanding the use of the Ukrainian language for Ukrainian tourists, as well as possibilities of organizing Ukrainian cultural events in Egypt were also discussed.
Special attention was payed to the prospects of cooperation in trade and investment areas. Vasyl Bodnar called on the Egyptian side to participate more actively in numerous investment projects in the tourism industry in Ukraine.
Deputy Foreign Minister expressed his gratitude to the Egyptian side for the comprehensive assistance in the prompt evacuation and returning to Ukraine of more than 32,000 Ukrainian citizens last March in response to the threat of the coronavirus pandemic outbreak.
