On 10 September, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Olexandr Mischenko received copies of the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Ukraine Ahmed Ehamshary.
Olexandr Mischenko congratulated the Egyptian diplomat on the beginning of his tenure in Kyiv and expressed confidence that friendly relations between Ukraine and Egypt would continue to strengthen.
During the meeting, the interlocutors discussed ongoing international efforts aimed at ending Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine and restoring a comprehensive, just and lasting peace based on the Principles of the UN Charter and international law. Special attention was paid to security and freedom of navigation in the Black Sea amid intensified Russian attacks, including in the context of ensuring uninterrupted food supplies from Ukraine to Egypt and other countries in the Middle East and Africa.
Egypt is Ukraine’s largest trading partner in the Middle East and Africa. The interlocutors reaffirmed their commitment to continuing efforts to remove existing barriers to trade and open up new market opportunities. In this regard, it was stressed the importance of further improving the legal framework governing bilateral relations, enhancing intergovernmental cooperation mechanisms, and expanding contacts between the business communities of the two countries.
The parties also discussed further political and interagency contacts between Ukraine and Egypt.
