On July 14, 2020, First Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Emine Dzhaparova met with Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Ukraine Ki-сhang Kwon.
Emine Dzhaparova noted the contribution of the Republic of Korea to overcoming COVID-19 in Ukraine and expressed gratitude to the Korean Side for the humanitarian aid provided to our country.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Korea noted Seoul's constant support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity within internationally recognized borders. The First Deputy Minister focused on the situation in the Russian-occupied Crimea, in particular on the militarization of the Crimean peninsula, human rights violations, and the continuation of hybrid warfare. In this regard, she drew the Ambassador's attention to the use by Russia of cases of participation of Korean individuals from among musicians or academics in events in Crimea.
Emine Dzhaparova noted the importance of deepening bilateral trade, economic and investment cooperation between Ukraine and the Republic of Korea. At the same time, the First Deputy Minister spoke about the illegal operation of Kia and Hyundai dealerships in the occupied Crimea, despite repeated calls by the Ukrainian Side for it to cease.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed cooperation between the two countries in the framework of international organizations, and exchanged views on the promotion of projects important for both countries on international platforms.
