Emine Dzhaparova, Ukraine's Deputy Minister and President of the National Commission for UNESCO, took part at the 42nd session of the UNESCO General Conference held in Paris from November 7 to 22, 2023. This conference stands as the organization's paramount event, shaping the strategic directions of its activities.


During the plenary session, Deputy Minister Dzhaparova addressed the assembly, shedding light on the challenges Ukraine faces amid Russian aggression. She underscored the critical role of UNESCO in supporting the protection of Ukraine's cultural heritage and educational.


In addition to her participation in the plenary session, Emine Dzhaparova engaged in a series of events that showcased Ukraine's commitment to UNESCO's mission. A notable highlight was her working meeting with the Group of Friends of Ukraine at UNESCO, where she discussed pertinent issues concerning Ukraine and explored avenues for enhanced cooperation within the Organization.


Furthermore, a crucial meeting took place between Deputy Minister Dzhaparova and Mr. Anthony Kwaku Ohemeng-Boamah, Assistant Director-General for Priority Africa and External Relations at UNESCO. The discussions centered on reinforcing UNESCO's presence in Ukraine, emphasizing the importance of keeping Ukrainian issue on the Organization's agenda.


The collaborative spirit extended to cultural initiatives, as Emine Dzhaparova, alongside the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, participated in the inauguration of the "Ukrainian Bookshelf" at the UNESCO library. This cultural project, already implemented in 42 countries worldwide, underscores Ukraine's commitment to promoting its rich literary heritage.


Moreover, the opening of the Ukrainian Institute's office in Paris marked another significant milestone during the visit. This expansion reaffirms Ukraine's dedication to fostering cultural exchange and collaboration on an international scale.


To celebrate Ukraine's cultural diversity, Deputy Minister Dzhaparova attended the opening of a concert featuring Ukrainian and ancient Crimean Tatar music by Heray-Khan, held in Paris as part of the Decade of Indigenous Languages of the World.
