On January 28, 2021, First Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Emine Dzhaparova held a meeting with Ambassador of Australia to Ukraine Bruce Edwards.

The First Deputy Minister noted a high level of cooperation between Ukraine and Australia on the international arena, in particular the support of Ukraine’s initiatives within the framework of international organizations, first of all the UN, further strengthening of Ukraine-Australia relations and the development of bilateral cooperation in different areas.

During the meeting, the parties noted the need to further strengthen the political and diplomatic dialogue between two countries.

Some other topical issues discussed included interaction within the framework of the Crimean Platform to be launched at the initiative’s Inauguration Summit on August 23, 2021. 

Bruce Edwards welcomed Ukraine’s initiative to establish an influential platform with the engagement of heads of state and government, prominent international public figures and experts in the development of mechanisms and decisions promoting the de-occupation of the Crimean peninsula.
