Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha met with Australian Ambassador Paul Lehmann on the occasion of the completion of his diplomatic mission to Ukraine.
During the meeting, the Minister expressed gratitude to the Australian diplomat for his personal contribution to the development of Ukraine–Australia relations, as well as for his consistent support for Ukraine in the face of Russia's armed aggression. The Minister also noted the importance of Australia's decision to resume the full-fledged operation of its Embassy in Kyiv, which marked a significant step towards strengthening bilateral dialogue.
The parties further discussed Australia’s military assistance within the framework of the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL), as well as the need to continue and enhance it. The Minister stressed the importance of maintaining and strengthening sanctions pressure on Russia and promoting international mechanisms to hold the aggressor state accountable, in particular through the establishment of a Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine.
“We highly appreciate Australia's consistent support and the Ambassador's personal contribution to the development of our relations. The resumption of the full-fledged operation of the Australian Embassy in Kyiv is an important signal of solidarity with Ukraine and trust in our state,” the Minister said.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to further intensify bilateral contacts and continue coordination within international organizations.
The Minister also expressed sincere gratitude to the Australian people for their solidarity and support for Ukraine.
