On 23 January, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Olexandr Mischenko received Paul Lehmann, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Australia to Ukraine.

The parties discussed the current state and prospects for the development of the Ukrainian-Australian partnership, as well as cooperation in the areas of security, defense, humanitarian assistance, and economic support for Ukraine.

Olexandr Mischenko expressed gratitude to the Government and people of Australia for their unwavering solidarity with Ukraine and comprehensive assistance amid Russia’s full-scale invasion, including the additional support provided by the Australian Government on 23 January 2026 in the amount of USD 6.85 million to the Ukrainian Energy Support Fund to ensure the stable operation of Ukraine’s energy system amid ongoing Russian attacks on civilian and critical infrastructure.

The parties reaffirmed their mutual interest in further deepening the strategic partnership between Ukraine and Australia and agreed to maintain an active political dialogue.
