On 29 September 2026, an official ceremony was held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, to mark the handover of Ukrainian food assistance to refugees under the humanitarian initiative of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, “Food from Ukraine.”

In July 2026, 2,298 tonnes of Ukrainian food products were delivered to the port of Dar es Salaam, including 648 tonnes of sunflower oil and 1,650 tonnes of peas. The implementation of the project was made possible through the financial support of the Government of the Republic of Korea.

The assistance is intended for refugees residing in camps in the Kigoma region in western Tanzania. The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has already commenced the distribution of the Ukrainian food assistance to beneficiaries.

This is the second delivery of Ukrainian food assistance to refugees in Tanzania. In March 2025, under the “Grain from Ukraine” initiative, Ukraine provided 500 tonnes of sunflower oil for refugees in the western part of the country. The current delivery continues this humanitarian cooperation and significantly increases the volume of assistance provided.

“Food from Ukraine” is a practical contribution by Ukraine to strengthening global food security and supporting people facing difficult humanitarian circumstances.

Ukraine highly values the contribution of the Government of the Republic of Korea to financing this humanitarian assistance, its partnership with the United Nations World Food Programme in delivering and distributing the assistance, as well as constructive cooperation with Tanzania in supporting refugees residing in the country.
