The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine welcomes the EU Council's decision to extend for another 6 months - until 15 September 2021 - individual sanctions on 177 persons and 48 entities in view of their actions undermining or threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence of Ukraine.

The decision is strong evidence of the fact that the European Union remains Ukraine’s reliable partner in the fight to restore its sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Russian Federation must immediately cease undermining the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and return to compliance with its international commitments. 

In case Russia persists in its aggressive actions against Ukraine or resorts to further escalation, the international community should provide an adequate response through strengthening the sanctions regime.
