The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has taken note of the adoption by the Sejm of the Republic of Poland of yet another resolution marking the anniversary of the tragic events in Volhynia in 1943-1944.

We would like to remind you that on July 11, the Ukrainian side paid tribute at the highest level to all victims of the Volhynia tragedy. Ukrainian and Polish high-ranking officials honored the memory of the innocently murdered Ukrainians and Poles both on the territory of Ukraine and on the territory of Poland.

Ukraine counts on a constructive and professional dialogue, as well as the continuation of joint search and exhumation efforts on the territory of both countries. The truth about the past can be established solely through a scientific approach.

Ukraine values Poland as one of its closest allies in confronting Russian aggression and is convinced that the pain of the past must not divide peoples who are united today by shared values, a common enemy, and a shared European future. The Ukrainian side will continue to adhere to a parity-based approach.

We call for an equal footing in bilateral relations, mutual respect for national memory policies, and pragmatic good-neighborliness for the sake of a strong Ukraine and a strong Poland.
