The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine is disappointed with the decision of the Tbilisi City Court to deny the defense request of Ukrainian citizen Mikheil Saakashvili regarding his release or sentence execution postponement due to his serious health condition.

The Court did not take into account the doctors' conclusion regarding the severity of Mikheil Saakashvili's illness. It also refused to transfer M.Saakashvili for treatment abroad.

The Georgian authorities have to stop settling political scores with Ukrainian citizen, ensure the compliance with his rights and hand him over to Ukraine.

The MFA of Ukraine will continue to protect the interests of Ukrainian citizen Mikheil Saakashvili, who must be released.
